How do you install a USB printer with WinXP Home

It's now time to install my older printer. A Lexmark printer first, which I have downloaded the WinXP drivers from Lexmark to the Desktop.

do you plug the USB in the computer first then boot up ? OR install the drivers in the Add Printer section of control planel then reboot and connect the printer ?.

I will have to install a USB Scanner also will this be the same process.

I haven't used USB devices before in XP O/s.

Install the drivers from your disk first, then connect your hardware. J.

I just plugged the USB in and in less than a min it was ready to print, no installing drivers or anything, it was an Epson stylus 670.

I have had to download the Driver as my original Driver disk didn't support XP driver. Will do it know.

XP might already have the drivers itself,

boot up your PC plug the usb in and it should find them automatically, if not it will promt you to search for the drivers or that the drivers could not be found, in which case run the drivers that you've downloaded.
