The only email clients built to handle Hotmail accounts are Microsoft Outlook (the Office email program) and Outlook Express, both also made by Microsoft.

The above, quoted from the Instructions in anskyber's link, are not strictly true - Incredimail also handles Hotmail accounts. I have MSN/Hotmail account and use Incredimail. I have never used Outlook or Outlook Express.

Just though I would add this for your information.

You can't, these days, simply configure a free hotmail account for use wuth Outlook Express.

You have to

Pay for an enhanced Hotmail account

Use a different email client, such as Thunderbird (+ webmail extensions)

Find some other method. Eventually Windows Live Mail Desktop my provide an answer - but that's still in beta form only.

I use Thunderbird - free and is better than Outlook Express anyway.

without any spaces, I put the spaces to stop it appearing as a link.

DieSse is correct of course, I forgot to mention that I have a paid-for Hotmail Plus account.

  Technotiger 15:09 19 Jan 08

Hmmm, I obviously didn't put in enough spaces ...

Windows Live Hotmail is free but a web based email client. click here

Anyway for £14.99 per year, I reckon it is worth paying for.
