How do you Back up the Registry

  Border View 11:30 30 Dec 03

Mu autorun of cds doesnt autorun anymore. Goodness knows why.

I did a search on this subject and advice is given on how to restore autorum BUT it says you have to back up the Registry before you proceed further. I've often seen this imperative instruction to back up the registry but dont have a clue how to and how to reinstall if things go belly up.

I run Windows 98SE.

Can anyone please give me step my step instructions. I have a floppy drive and a CD-RW

Many thanks

Click Start, click Run, type scanregw, and then click OK.

When you receive a prompt to back up the registry, click Yes.

When you receive the "Backup complete" message, click OK.

Many thanks for such a speedy response. Am off to see I can fix my problem autorun.

Is the same result obtained by Run, Regedit, Registry, Import/Export Registry File?
