How to do a"clean reinstall" of windows 7

Just bought a used laptop for a grand daughter. The HD had been wiped and the recovery W7 used to reinstall windows 7 home premium. It took me (on and off) several days to get it up to date, what with hundreds of updates and a very long SP1 update. I see some folk (with SSD or not)seem to do clean reinstalls quite often. I have done an updated backup and a restore point, but is there a way to create a CD or DVD disc for W7 incorporating all these updates etc, or do people face the hours of updates after a reinstall that I have endured?

jb: look up 'slip streaming'. Certainly in the XP days, you could take your original XP CD, download the various service packs and combine them all together, then burn a CD that was an uptodate version of XP. Don't know if you can do the same with W7.
