How do Istop 'Found new harware Wizard'

  jack 11:11 21 Sep 09

Having had a couple of 'Allin in ones' that had gone 'bad' to play with - and got them working- I installed the appropriate software for each.

Now 'Found new hardware' Wizard keeps coming up- and directing me to the HP device- which has its software installed, though currently not connected to the computer.
In contrast the software for the 'Dell' also not connected is still installed, but seems not to concern the Wizard.
How do I stop it looking for something that is there?

The key is to install the software BEFORE connecting the printer/scanner.

So uninstall the software, uninstall the device from device manager.

When it sees the new device, cancel the New Found Hardware Wizard.

Install the software, then connect the device.

Isn't there a tick box (don't show this message again for this device) on the pop up. I experienced this doing clean Vista install and used that option for a couple of inbuilt devices untill I installed the correct software.
