How do I uninstall Messenger?

Hi
I wish to uninstall/ disable Windows messenger but it does not seem possible from the Add/ Remove Programs tool - is there another way?

I have tried msconfig but this seems not to be effective and Messenger fires up when a contact comes on-line.
Cheers
Steve

dalglish,
If you're running XP then you can disable it through 'services'.

(I think sp2 should disable it automatically)

In 'Add/Remove Programs' click on 'Add/Remove Windows Components'

Ive just found this while searching the forum for posts on windows messenger.

Start, Run, type or paste in

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

and click OK.
