how do i take off CPU cooler?

hiya all,

getting a new CPU heatsink and fan also a new north bridge cooler (with fan).

anyway... how do i remove the old ones?

i dont wanna just yank them off as they might wreck the CPU/north bridge

so how do i do it people?

Have a look on the CPU manufacturers website. They both give comprehensive instructions for assembly/dissembly of the CPU arrangements.

I was thinking more about AMD or INTEL to show you how to do it rather than the cooler maker. AMD used to have a step by step guide.

The thing to be especially careful about is that you don't snap the ceramic lugs that hold the heatsink/fan assembly to the motherboard. That's why I said CAREFULLY!

Those are exactly the ones I meant. I'm sure Intel had one as well.

Anyway, the principles are the same for both brands.
