How do I restore a desktop icon in W98?

My mother's PC runs W98SE.

She tried to install the beta version of AOL 9 yesterday and it failed to load properly.

She perservered and managed to 'restore' AOL 8, but has lost the desktop icon that she clicks to start AOL. She is still abale to run AOL going through Start|Prgams etc etc.

How do I restore her desktop icon?

When in start/programs highlight aol right click and select send to desktop (create shortcut)

Many thanks [email protected] for your prompt and concise answer.

I *knew* that it was supposed to be easy.

I've been hopeless with Windows since W3.1 was done away with.

And now I'm struggling to learn Mac OS 10 point something or other although I am greatly enjoying the features of my Mac G5.

One day, all the world will run on a single OS and everything will be simple <sigh>.
