How do I replace a hard drive.

(NB: WinXP SP2)

Chkdsk has reported "unrecoverable errors" on my main hard drive, and which are causing me all sorts of grief. It is buzzing like mad, and sometimes I get the "Hardware Initiate Failed" message at startup.

Now, I know well, how to replace a hard drive, physically. It is child's play, but I have no Idea how to "ghost" the entire contents of a (4) partitioned (SATA) drive onto another one, and then to switch over to the new drive.

What to do?

Buy a Seagate drive and the software will allow you to install the new drive, transfer all the files including operating system onto the new drive from the existing, then make the new drive the master and finally remove the original

Easy peasy

In fact most manufacturers hard drives come with software to do that. If not, i can usually be downloaded from their website.
