Toshiba, Equium, Model A210-1C4 OS Vista

Recently have had difficulty booting and now find I cannot get beyond a request for the Bios Utility password

When I boot I am given the option to press F1 or F2 . If I press either F1 or F2 a new screen opens as follows:

"PhoenixBIOA Setup Utility

(Enter Password)"

I dont have this password

I have tried everything, including installing a new cmos battery - but it still comes back to this screen asking me for the password.

Where can I get it? How can I get in tough with Toshiba??? a nightmare Help gratefully requested on this one.

Laptop BIOS password are kept on a separate chip so if you got the machine from someone else you need to ask them for the password they set, otherwise its a chip change or try a backdoor password.

Formatting the drive will not reset a BIOS password

it will of course reset any windows passwords as you would have to recreate accounts and lose all your info anyway.
