how do i no that windows defender is acutally on??

How to i know that windows defender is actually running in the back ground giving me real time protection????

Because as spyware doctor, windows defender is not in the task bar so...

click on Tools>Options. Make sure you scroll all the way down that page. Make sure that real-time protection is checked. Click to enable "Always" to show Windows Defender icon in the notification area.
Also, click on "Changes made to your computer by software that is allowed to run." Also make sure you have clicked on "Use Windows Defender" at the very bottom of the page. Click on "Save" before you close the page.
