How do I make words on monitor bigger

I have just bought a new 22 inch widescreen monitor.It recommends a setting of 1900 by 1080 or something similar with 32 bit.
I find the words too small.If I slide the bar to the left to reduce the setting the screen is not widescreen.What do I set it to to get widescreen and bigger words please.

If your OS is Win 7 then..........

Right click on the desktop, click on Personalize on the menu which comes up.

At the bottom left click on the Display link.

Click on the Medium 125% - or – Set Custom Text size (DPI) at the bottom of the links on the left side of the screen.

To set the screen resolution: On this same page as reached by the above, click on Change Display Settings
