Hi,

I wan't a discussion forum on my site.

People will have to register first though

I have microsoft Frontpage 2002 and Frontpage 2002 extentions enabled on my site.

I am on webmania (web hosting)

The site is working fine.

Thanks

and it's simplicity itself to set up. All the pages can be customised, so you can integrate the forum into your site. It works very well, just don't expect it to have all the bells and whistles that you get with third-party forum software.

1. Open your site in FP. On the File menu, click New.

2. Under New Web site, click More Web site templates.

3. In the Web Site Templates dialogue box, on the General tab, click Discussion Web Site Wizard.

4. Under Options, select the 'Add to current Web site' check box, and then click OK.

because

1. The FP server extensions aren't working properly.

2. You've altered the names of specific files which the forum needs in order to operate.

3. You've moved the files.

Once you publish the forum to the server you mustn't alter the filenames of any of the FP forum files, or move them to different directories. I'm not suggesting that you have done this, but it is a common reason for FP forum errors.

Otherwise I can only suggest that you try to re-publish. You did publish direct from FrontPage didn't you, and not via a separate FTP program?

I am an idiot, ive done everything you have said not to do.

in the wizzard it says 'do you want to put this forum on your homepage' i must have clicked yes

Becouse there was an index.html which was my homepage already and i didn't want to overwrite so i renamed it to 'forum'.

I have published using flashXP not FP.

Ill re-do it all and let you know how i go.

thanks

Thanks Very much for all your help and support

It does work now,but i am taking it off and reloading becouse i want to customise it.

I was also wondering can i put this forum under a sub domain? i already have the subdomain registered as forums.domain.co|.uk.

Thanks

you can locate the forum in your sub-domain, but make sure that you publish it to that directory - and then link to it from your homepage, or wherever.

Don't forget that you can password-protect the forum too, if you want to.
