how do I know what 'cards' are on a PC?

Hi all

My partner has just inherited a PC from her sister and it's displaying only in 16 colours with, I assume, the default Windows graphics card driver - it looks like a clean install of Windows ME. How can I find out what the graphics and soundcards are (without opening the machine?) so I can download drivers? The PC is not net enabled.

Cheers

Everest free edition is another good one that I like. You can download it here

Everest is great because it doesn't need to install, so you can run it from a USB key on any PC.

Thanks very much guys for your replies and suggestions. I downloaded all the recommended apps and tried Everest first off - just the job! The machine now has sound and more colours and resolution options. Thanks anchor!

Props to SG and Fruit Bat too. Most grateful.

Dave
