how do I know the Internal HD will fit my laptop?

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-S4M laptop and want to upgrade my 60gb hard drive. I have a Seagate Ultra ATA/100 160gb notebook internal hard drive to hand (5400 rpm, 8mb cache, 2.5" drive).

Problem is how do I know it will be compatible with my laptop? The box states that "48-bit addressing is required to exceed the137-Gbyte capacity limitation imposed by 28 bit addressing" This means nothing to me! (I tried to google what 48-bit addressing is but to no avail!- cant understand techie talk!)

I checked the FAQ section for the Seagate Ultra ATA/100 and under the question "How do I know if my system can support the new Ultra ATA/100 products?" the answer is simply "check with your preferred motherboard manufacturer or system manufacturer for Ultra ATA/100 support information" - That's not very helpful at all!

Other laptop specs:
Model No. PCG-6G2M
OS: Microsoft Windows XP
Processor: Intel Pentium M 730 533 MHz FSB
Processor Speed: 1.60GHz
HDD: 2 x 30gb, Serial ATA, 5400rpm

Also, after i have duplicated my old HDD, is it as simple as unscrewing the case, taking the old HDD out and putting the new in as some people say?!

Please help!

Your current drive is SATA, it sounds as though the 160gb is PATA - incompatible. click here

Take 3 or 4 screws out of the bottom of the laptop and look. Not technical no experience required, and you'll know pretty quick.

OK, so next time I need to look for a 2.5" SATA internal hard drive such as the Western Digital Scorpio WD3200BEVT 320GB

Is there anything else I need to look for to make sure the new HDD will be compatible with my laptop?

Thanks!
