I've got an mp3 file on a flash drive that I want to delete but everytime I try I get the following message:

"Cannot delete mp3 file: The disk is write-protected.
Remove the write-protection or use another diskette."

Does anyone know how to remove the write-protection?

My OS is XP Home with XP SP2

Can you format the flash drive?

Or maybe use freeFile to unlock it:

Sorry although this may be stating the obvious it has to be asked....

many flash drives have a small switch allowing write protection - you haven't got one of these and it's switched on have you?

You can use the software aswell which came with the product

I'm so embarrased, I hadn't noticed it before (it is very tiny but honestly...).

Thanks for all the swift responses!
