I am running WinXP Pro and thought I could enable APM by going to the power options in control panel but I cannot find the option to enable this here I am sure that this is where I done it before, does it depend on the motherboard or graphics card you are runnning?

Go to setup CMOS when you are starting your computer by pressing what it say's at boot on the boot-up screen, possibly Del key works for most comps. look in power management and set to enabled exit setup and save settings

Thanks woodchip I thought that was probable how but I tried that and there is no field for enabling APM their is a field for ACPI and that is already enabled

You should either run as ACPI or APM. ACPI is the 'preferred' option for XP.

Is there a particular reason for wanting to enable APM?
