How do I do a ink clean on HP 815c

  pj123 15:46 09 Sep 06

I have just hooked up an HP 815c printer after about 3 months of none use.

It prints black OK but the colours are not good.

Is there a head cleaning facility on this printer?

PS. Working on Win XP but the printer is on the Parallel port not USB.

If the print head is in the ink cartridge as with most hp printers, remove the cartridge and GENTLY clean the copper coloured heads of the side and base of the cartridge with a moistened tissue until you see the three colours on the tissue

Thanks, 961. Will give that try. Will keep the thread open so that I can report back when done.

I suggest standing the cartridge on a pad of wet tissue in an old saucer, so that the print head is downwards.

No need to wet the side elecrical contacts and be prepared for leaving it like that for an hour or two.
No harm in looking every now and then but it doesneed patience

Yes you can do a cartridge clean in most HP printers - it's in the software. For my 940C look in the main saystem Menus, under Hewlett Packard, for the HP Toolbox - yours hopefully is similar.
