Samsung Galaxy S8 review
I downloaded a couple of screen savers a while ago and I am running one on my desktop. It is one of those 'moving' screen savers called 'Dolphin' and I also have one called 'Marine' I am getting fed up with it now and would like to delete it. it comes from here InstallIQ Installation Utility but I cannot seem to find it in the program files anywhere. Can someone let me know how to get rid of this thing?
Uninstall InstallIQ through add/remove applet
For Windows 7/Vista users)
Click Start menu > Select Control Panel.
Double click Add/Remove applet.
Select InstallIQ in the list of currently installed programs of your computer, and then click Uninstall button to start the removal.(see the below screenshot) Click Yes on the pop up message. Then follow the on-screen instruction to proceed.
Restart your computer after you finish the removal process.
For Windows 95/98/Me/NT users) Click Start > Settings >Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Click the Install/Uninstall tab for Windows 95/98/Me/NT.
Locate and select InstallIQ in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/ (Remove in Windows 2000/XP.)
Follow the on-screen prompts, and then click Yes or "Yes to all" as needed to continue the process.
Restart your computer after you finish the removal.
Pro: A fast and the most common way to uninstall this program, easy to operate for almost every computer users.
Con: Unable to handle stubborn programs, always leaves traces like wasted registry entries and unwanted leftover files, which may result in unnecessary disk space occupancy, slow PC running, interference of further reinstallation etc.
You may receive the following variations of Windows InstallIQ install/uninstall or upgrade error messages or come across the problems below:
Windows installer is corrupt and infected with [program name] virus. The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.
Uninstall InstallIQ manually by deleting hidden file and editing registry
As registry keys and hidden files will be generated along with the program installation, so, after you finished the above steps, you still need to remove all the hidden file and related registry keys of the program to ensure a 100% complete removal. You can follow the below steps to fully uninstall it:
Part1: Delete leftover files/folders
Double click to open My Computer.
Click on Tool menu > Folder options.
Click on View tab.
Select the Show hidden files and folders option in the Advanced settings section
Click OK button to finish the setting.
Note: You can also reach the Folder Options by going to Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options, by doing the above steps, all the hidden files/folders will become visible for you to have a better view to delete the leftovers.
Click Start menu, and click Search.
Click "All files and folders" option in the left side section.
Type in InstallIQ in the first blank, or you can type in the name of the application without version number.
Select a more specific area (drive, drives or folder) in the "Look in box" if needed.
Click Search button to start searching all the related files and folders of the target program.
After the search finish, right click to delete all the found files/folders on the right hand section.
Close the search window and back to your desktop. Right click on the Windows Recycle bin and select empty the recycle bin.
Part2: Delete associated registry leftovers
Click Start --> run
Type in "regedit", and then click ENTER to open Windows Registry Editor.
Find out the below registry keys in the editor.
(HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\eg ui) Delete those registry keys by right clicking on them and select "delete". Go to Start > Control penal > Folder > Select Show Hidden Files and Folders Locate and delete the following folders manually if found:
(C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\program name)
(C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\program name)
Close registry editor and restart Your computer.
Thanks for the help guys. I did manage to find and delete the screen saver. There seems to be nothing of it now in the registry, so once again thanks for the help.
