How do I check flash drive for viruses etc.

When I try to use my flash in my daughter's computer, Kaspersky says there is an infection it can'r remove - but then, that's Kaspersky!
I have PC Tools Spyware Doctor but can't see how I can get it to look at the flash.
In the "good old days" of floppy disks, we used to re-format them. Is this the way for a flash & how do I do it.

Normally, open My Computer, right click the drive letter and select Scan (with your AV) - if it doesn't have context menu entries, you should be able to configure a custom scan of a specific drive from the software's interface.

And to re-format the same idea - right-click the drive letter of your flash drive and select Format.

what av are you running? you should be able to right click the drive and choose scan

I must remember to use right-click more often!
It did the job & Spyware Doctor found no problem.
I assume the problem is with Krapersky
