One of my granddaughters works seasonally in Greece, She has a W7 Laptop and a 1Tb Usb HD, partitioned in half - one for backups. She would like to watch DVD movies she has bought by storing them on the USB HD. I guess it is not possible just to drag and drop? I have heard of Handbrake etc but would be grateful for advice. This is purely to get, say, 50 or so DVD movies on the HD to watch in private.

No comments about movies but, if the Hard Drive failed her Backup would be gone as well!

Good point. I will suggest she keeps the best ones on the data partition of her laptop with back ups on the USB. She does not generate much data so there should be room.
