Start up screen shows hard drive but windows says no hard drive found, also can't see it in bios but where would it show it as i can only see details for IDE hard drives in BIOS

although this relates to seagate drives it's still relevant click here

you will find the drive in the boot sequence of the bios, the other odd thing is that if you are instaling xp or 2000 you will need a floppy disk to install the drivers

Floppy disc from where ?

  AndySD 22:28 25 Sep 04

You will need the Sata 376 drivers on a floppy.

When windows setup asks roe drivers press F^ and use the floppy.

You will should find the drivers on your motherboard CD, look under a sata folder on the disc. You should probably find a makedisk.exe in the folder, this creates a driver disk that you can press F6 and install on installation of xp.
