boot to the desktop ?.

DiSse told me that Scanreg/fix for Win98 but in ME ?

Problem, on a friends pc a Tiny of all small things. Pun.

Sometimes it won't boot and says things like insert Boot disk, sometimes it will start in Safe Mode, sometimes it will then show a corrupted graphcis in safe mode desktop and error did show registry file missing or corrupt.

I have her Tiny restore pack but of not much use.

the Tiny Restore pack will only work with the "TINY FLOPPY BOOT DISC AND CD-ROM"

Why do you say that the restore pack will not work?

Switch the PC on and keep hitting F8 until you get a menu. Choose Safe Mode Command Prompt Only and press Enter. When you get to the C:\ prompt type scanreg /restore and press enter. You will get a list of the last 5 backed up registries and dates. Choose a date that is nearest to the date before the problem occurred, press Enter and the Registry will be restored. Don't forget the space between scanreg and /restore.

the Tiny options of Second chance or give the restore option but will not proceed due to registry corruption.

Pj123 M8, the option of Safe mode with command prompt is not available.

just have Start:- Normal, Safe mode, Bootlog text, and that otherone load ...
Shift & F5 gives Safe mode no command promt option.

Cleared Cmos with no sucess but HDD now registers in BIOS and on boot more regular.

Starting in safe modem and letting Scandisk run as its kicked in itself.

My Win98Se Boot floppy can give 3 options to start with CD rom, 2. use cdrom or not with CD rom option.

I think its either a faulty Motherbaord or Faulty HDD.

Go into BIOS and select CDROM as first boot device.

Exit the BIOS.

Bung WME disk in the drive and reboot. Follow the on-screen instructions.
