How can I get rid of fidbox.dat?

  Paul & Marie 20:36 29 Dec 10

We have AVG free edition 2011 and ZoneAlarm and have never had Kaspersky installed. The computer has XP Pro Service Pack 3 that is kept up to date. The last defrag showed a hidden file fidbox.dat in WINNT\system32\drivers\ that was growing and fragmented over the whole of the C: drive. fidbox.dat seems to be in use by the system and not able to be defragged or deleted. How can I get rid of it?

See here click here and here click here

If it is there, you can use Contig.exe or/and Power Defragmenter to defrag it. Not sure how or if you can rid yourself of it.

Further see here click here - scroll down to see info from "jcgriff2"

You may need to run "chkdsk /r"
