How can I check the amount of L2 cache on my CPU?

I bought a Core 2 Extreme QX9650 with 12mb of L2 cache. In both S.A.N.D.R.A. and 3DMark06 it detected that the L2 cache was only 6mb. It was also named as an 'x9650' (minus the Q), which I thought was odd. What I would like to know is whether there is any difference between an X9650 and a QX9650, and if there is any legitimate reason for the monitoring programs to only detect 6mb?
