How can I change size of desktop boxes

Can anyone tell me how to change the size of the the Desktop Boxes,make smaller!
:ie Desktop Properties, Control Panel etc

If you mean the 'windows' just drag them to the size you want and then close the window from the drop down 'File' menu.

If you mean the desktop icons and using Vista then one left click on the desktop, press and hold CTRL key and use the mouse scroll wheel to adjust sizes.

Ok guys thanks,
it is when I open Display Properties on the Desktop,
when I right click on the desktop to change Desktop Appearances etc,
and also when I go to Start/Control Panel I get big Boxes come up twice the normal size.
I cannot check out your suggestions as I am away from the PC involved

No such thing as normal size - you can make them whatever size you want.

"Control Panel", and other "Windows" screens such as documents, pictures etc click view at the top and select Icon size from the list.
