how can i boot from a usb floppy drive

the thing is ive got a sony vaio with xp home on it and want to put xp pro on it.the xp home creates 2 30gig partitions and when i install the xp pro i only have 1 partition of 30gig.i used fdisk on a sharp laptop what i had the same problem with but the sony laptop does not have a floppy drive and i cant get it to boot from a usb floppy drive.any help would be really good.thanks.............mike

can you create a bootable cd? The next question is, have you an option in the bios to boot from usb floppy. If you use Nero you should be able to create a bootable cd on any machine.

it says nowt about booting from usb in the bios.ok yeah ive got nero but not sure what to use to create a bootable cd.thanks

You can't boot from a USB device, because at boot the USB has not been initialised.

Use nero to create a bootable cd. If you are using nero 6 then the option to make a bootable cd is under the data tab.

Is it because you have a sony recovery disc which set the partions up ??

thanks anon1 ill give it a try,and sicknote thats rite and no matter wot i do i cant delete it and put the partition as one using the xp pro disc.

Why not try Acronis Partition Expert click here remember to back up your data just in case it goes wrong. I've used it a few times myself without problems.

I forgot to mention that the free version has been on the PCA cover disk a couple of times.
