I know this is probably simple, but i'd like to know how to back up registry files.I have various programs running on my pc that back up the registry before making any changes to the PC.These back ups appear to be files on my desktop which i assume can be opened with notepad. The question is, how do i restore these settings back into the registry using these already saved back up files. Thanks in advance.

Start/Run/type regedit and hit enter/File/Export/Save the file

Sorry misread the question, try double click. My first post tells you how to backup your registry and save it for example to My Documents or anywhere else. A flash drive for instance.

Have tried this, but the file is not recognized. It's an SPG file? Windows can't open this file.
