Hello and good evening to u all. I slight problem that I need proper advice on how to sort out please. I currently have a Windows XP machine....and I use itunes. All my music is stored on the external drive E:, and hence my itunes media location is E.

I'm in the process of getting a new windows 7 desktop, within the next few days,..and on a previous posts ive been told how to do this,so thats ok.

My problem is that i've also been advised that I need to get my new windows 7 desktop to automatically recognize the hard drive as E: drive immediately its connected to my new desktop pc. Now apparently my new desktop will have about 10 usb ports.....so its critical that when I connect my 1tb external hard drive that it PERMANENTLY RECOGNIZES IT AS THE E DRIVE......and NOT as any other drive....I was told there is a feature in windows 7 that can do this....i just need proper guidance please.

Click the Start Orb and enter diskmgmt.msc in the search box then click the program when it appears. Right click on the drive and select change driver letter and paths, click the change button and select the drive letter.

If that drive letter is not available another disk has already been allocated to it so move that to another one then try to change it.

Note that Windows will have already allocated a drive letter once you plug it in but I don't know a way of 'pre-assigning it'.
