Hello all

Sorry if this is in the incorrect forum but wasn't too sure where to put it.

I got a email to my Hotmail email address from Mirosoft Messenger Team as below

"On 15th March 2013 we are retiring the existing Messenger service globally (except for mainland China where Messenger will continue to be available) and bringing the great features of Messenger and Skype together. Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips. You'll be able to instant message and video chat with them just like before, and also discover new ways of staying in touch with Skype on your mobile and tablet."

Below this in the email there is a click on "Download" to download what the email claimes to be Skype.

I have asked other people to find out if they have had this email. No one else seems to recall having it.

So my question is; is this Genuine that Hotmail emails is changing to Skype ?

I am worried if this legit. I do understand that Microsoft have bought Skype or something but using Skype for Emails i thought was just for messaging

Thank you in advand for anyone who can help advise on this and sorry if its a bit of a ramble of a read.

It's legit but they're only getting rid of Windows Live Messenger. I'm not impressed using Skype as a messenger service though.
