Hotmail address hacked?

  Conny 23:06 24 Jun 08

I have been receiving e mails from a friend who has not actually sent them. Obviously her account has been hacked into and someone has the details of everyone in her address list. How has this happened and what can she do about it?
Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

was there pass an easy one to guess??.. or was there secret question an easy one??

No, it uses capitals/smalls and numbers and the tip question is ambiguous if you don't know the answer.

Ok last thing i know about is did he log in to msn using another pc? It can be hacked if he did.

She should go change her password right away!

If the password was 'remembered' then a trojan could have picked it up. I never save passwords to any email accounts or any important sites for obvious reasons. I'd tell your friend to run the AV and antispyware programs then change the password again but not auto save it.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Will tell her to change her password, would it be useful to change her e mail addy as well or is that not necessary?
