Hot PC

Since the hot weather arrived the cooling fan on my Dell Dimension has been working overtime.

It's not blocked, there's reasonable room between the back of the tower and the wall and the computer continues to work OK.

Is there anything else I can do to cool it down (other than pray for cold weather)?

Use some of those "desk fans" to help cool the air down abit.... Well that is what I am doing, and my system is still flying though everything as normal.... :)

Its at least 10 - 15º celsius hotter in Spain and i dont have any problems so i shouldn`t worry too much, it will be cold and raining soon anyway ;-)

"Its at least 10 - 15º celsius hotter"

Which makes it about 45ºC - it's 30º here at the moment.

But, seriously, does your fan also work constantly??

do NOT remove any covers/sides of your computer thinking that this will allow it to run cooler. It won't.

The airflow inside a computer case is, or should be, designed to give optimum cooling to the vulnerable components. Opening the case disrupts this airflow and this can then easily result in a grossly overheated system with consequent shutdowns - or worse.

Every PC i have had the fans have always been on, its when they are not on you will get problems, they are there to get airflow through the case.
