Hosts file

I've been told that the solution to my problem (unable to access Outlook Express and just one internet site, which is my ISP) is the hosts file.

I know where it is, and when comparing it with the one on my laptop, which does not have the same problem, even though sharing the same router, it appears identical.

How do I ensure that the hosts file is correct?
