Hosting for e-commerce site

I'm designing a site that will eventually need some form of shopping cart and secure credit/debit card facilities. I've done some research on the various options and it seems that something like PayPal or Protx would be the best option for the moment. However, we may consider moving to an SSL server at some point and so I need a host that offers that.

Is there an independent review of hosting companies anywhere online where I can read about such things?

Any recommendations for shopping carts or any other aspect of e-commerce will also be most welcome.

The business in question will be in the UK but the hosting company need not be.
