I bought the July edition of pc advisor tonight and noticed a letter in the help room concerning host files, I did a check & all i can see is this:

The system is registered to new (in system properties) & I have several antispy/virus packages; Kaspersky Internet 7 & webroot's spysweeper, which flags up a warning when i try to delete any of the above, otherwise both programmes show all clear (no viruses, malware or spyware etc).

Is the above normal & if not what can i delete.

To be honest all I know about host files is within Google's information pack; click here= .

Hope that helps.

click here and download Funkytoad`s HostsExpert. You can restore the MS default Hosts file and make it read only. See the features list. Quickest way I know to safeguard the Hosts file and protect it from malicious attack.

Its fine, its the loopback of your own machine.

Are you on a network using a router ?

In my case it's Spybot S&D that's putting the extra entries there.

barryoneoff.co.uk has a good point, especially if Spybot SD is installed and the teatimer activated, webroot may work in a similar fashion.

I'm just using a standard "wired" BT 105 modem (a little old but it gives me 5.1mbps).
