Horrible big blue screen

  pickle factory 08:53 21 Mar 04

Good morning folks. Could anyone please give me some advice as to why I might be getting a wonderful collection of fatal exception errors when I try to load Win 98. I have reformatted hard drive and tried to do a clean load (Something I've not had problems with previously) but on this particular pc I get most of the way through the Windows load before it crashes. Would I be correct in thinking there's sommat up with the pc? DOS seems to work fine. I have recorded the exception codes if they actually mean anything to anyone. Thanks

Yes, please post the full error messages.

As follows (Comma separating individual errors): 0028:C003BDIE, 0028:C0005338 in VXD VMM (01)+00004338, 0028:C0006EB2 in VXD VMM(01)+00005EB2, 16E7:014775B6, 0002:014F391C. 0202:01478861, 0646:014747FB Unfortunately, I'm still sufficiently amateur to have no clue whatsoever as to the meaning of these.

Hi, Copy VXD VMM into your search engine and have a look at the first entry. Cheers, Bill

Thanks folks, I've not got access to dodgy pc where I am just now, so I'll check out your info and try actions later. Here's hoping. (I have a really big bin anyway, just in case) Cheers

Yeh, that's the baby. Those issues are exactly what I'm getting, same processer and all. Superb advice as usual, definitly sounds promising. I'll let you know if it's successful. Thanks again
