Hi all,
I thought I was clever to link my video player to my DVD recorder and copy my old video tapes to DVD. That bit has worked and the DVD's play on the DVD player. However when I load the DVD into my PC it does not show any files or will not play the DVD. What have I done wrong ?

Depends what kinds of discs your PC DVD and your DVD recorder can read - check your built in drive with this; click here

Did you finalize the disk in the dvd recorder first.

I have carried out the sytem check - what exactly am I looking for ?

At the completion of copy from video to DVD, the DVD would take some time and "process" would flash on the DVD for 10-15seconds.

'At the completion of copy from video to DVD, the DVD would take some time and "process" would flash on the DVD for 10-15seconds.'

Thats just the disk finishing, not finalizing, enter the dvd recorder menu and 'finalize' the disk.

thanks Jim, the finalising seemed to do it.
However I tried all the discs I copied (40) and a few would allow me to finalise but not all of them. Any idea why ?

sorry, no idea why, unless they have been written by a different recorder.
