Im setting up a server at home using my old deskptop computer.

its an old amd athlon.

I want to do the following.

  1. Remove windows and have a standalone software installed
  2. Have access to both internal hardrives and usb harddrives that will be connected to the machine
  3. Be able to set the times that the server is on or off. (Possibly have remote turn on feature)

What software should i be looking at? any advice for doing this please?

google FreeNAS - there are links to the NAS software and a few tutorials about setting up a server.
