Both viruses use P2P for access...aka Kazaa and edonkey. All the firewalls in the world would have not stopped them as the owner errrrrmmmmm...gave them access permission. ;-))

'one of the first reports of a virus-infected computer being used to raid an account'...bit different from the usual scare stories.

As I and others have rabbited on many times before, anyone using P2P, esp. for teh dodgy music and Pr0n ;-))) sites, should be well worried.

As a UK based person, can I assume that funds will travel my way (due to gravity).

The Register :o)

I can only hope that this sort of scam does not get any more sophisticated.

I know that it probably will though and that leads me to wonder what (in future) will we be able to do to prevent it ?

Ditch Kazaa, emule, edonkey, Bitorrent for one thing. Even if your account gets plundered, the banks will refund you PDQ...nothing to worry about here.
