Hi smackheadz,
How do I do what you suggest? I have tried typing it, and saving it but nothing seems to happen.

In Firefox click Tools menu and Options - Main tab and select When Firefox Starts Show My Home Page. In the Home Page URL type the address of the Ask search engine and click OK. Close Firefox then re-open.

Good to hear it worked

If you have the problem again and wish to correct it, this time have the Ask page already open as needed for your home page.

Then go to Tools>Options>Main tab and click Use Current Page.

Sometimes the keying in of the URL works, but other times it doesn't (it won't at all normally with IE as it reverts back to the page on display if not the one required), so you need to have the actual home page open and to select Use Current Page.
