Home Networking

I have two computers, 1 desktop, 1 laptop, would like to know what hardware is needed to create a basic home network. Laptop already wireless through a BT Home Hub.

If your desk top computer is connected to the Home Hub via ethernet cable then no other hardware is required , if your Desk Top PC isn't wired in then that can connect also with a wireless PCI card . When all that is done , run the network wizard on both PC's to set up file and print sharing , making sure that they are both using the same network , the default is MSHome , then in Windows explorer right click on the files and folders you wish to share over the network , that should do it ...try this first with firewalls disabled , then add both to see there is no blocking of network .
