Home networked cameras - internet viewing - elp!

  OldHector 13:48 25 Jan 08

Ive just got a nice little LinkSys Wireless-G camera for my home network. I have a NetGear router which it connects to in a wireless fashion, naturally.

My question is - how do I view my camera's output over the internet outside of my network? I have now turned on Remote Management on the router, but I still can't see it at the IP which is assigned. Does this have anything to do with anything?

All help is really appreciated as I am heading on holiday soon!

I have tried accessing it over the internet by entering http://[WANIP]:[PORT]. This does not work.

I can see my router's admin page by entering the WANIP plus port 80. I have run a port scanner and the port assigned to the camera in the port forwarding rules is responding.... I can't work out the problem here at all.

My router is a DG834GT. I have setup port forwarding as per the PortForward.com website instructions (i.e. add a Service then add Firewall rules).

No help I'm afraid.
