Hi,

Please help... I'm Lost!!!

I have a problem that started on sunday without warning.

I have a broadband connection and a modem which then connects to a wirless Router. I have 2 laptops which connect wirelessly and a PC that is connected via a network cable. I have the windows firewall enabled and a firewall on my router. The nework worked fine, but on sunday night I came home and now the PC will not connect to the internet or the other PC's!!

I have changed the cable - no change
I have run winsockfix - no change
I have plugged in my laptop with a cable and turn of the wirless function and it works ine, which indicates its an issue with the PC.
I cannot even connect to my router via the ip number in explorer on my PC but I can ping without problems.

I really don't know why it has suddenly stopped working! Please help!!!

Thanks

I have even used a restore point on the PC and it did not work again.

the green light is on, on both the PC and the router when I plug in the PC.

Cheers

Some things to try:

Change the cable used and the port used on the router, just to rule these out.

At a command prompt on the PC type
IPCONFIG /ALL
and copy and paste here what it shows.

What sort of things were you doing on the day it stopped working?

win98 XP home or XP pro or ?

As you have a router firewall I would temporarily disable anything that might block, software firewall, AV, MS antispy ...

Does it work in safe mode with networking?

Log into the router and check someone hasn't been messing around and blocked your MAC address or IP or something like that.
