Home network problem

Have two PC's on home network and am unable to view either PC. Both run XP Home and have previousley been networked and worked fine. I had to format hard drive on PC2 and have not networked since. I have run network wizard several times on both PC's without success. A cable modem is connected direct to PC1. I can 'ping'PC2 from PC1 and get a reply, but if I 'ping' PC1 from PC2 I get 'timed out'. Both PC's are connected via a 4 port Netgear dual speed hub. I have tried changing the network card on PC2 without success. Can anyone suggest anything else that might solve the problem.

Yes I have but I have tried it with the firewall off.
