Home Network Connections

on my home network the family have 2 x pc running xp pro, 1 x laptop running xp pro and 1 pc running vista home basic.

Connected to the vista pc by usb are 2 printers a scanner and a 500gb hard drive.

Usually all users can see and use everything and each others public folders.

Every couple of days the vista pc vanishes from the network, meaning no connectivity for the family.

The only way to re establish connection is to restart the vista pc.

It works every time but is a pain.

Any bright spark know of a quick and easy way to reconnect ??

Sorry but shoot the Vista PC

That would be a possibility BUT think of the mess!

Is the Vista PC a laptop where it is being moved around and that is the reason for the lost connection? Personally I have found my Vista network connections just as reliable as my XP one.

I wonder if it would be better with external hardware connected to one of the XP computers

No, the laptops do but the pc's are in a fixed position. Should have said the network is wireless, (BT Home Hub)

Hi Woodchip
that might work and I'll try that as a last resort.
