home network

I have a question concerning a home network

I am getting Broadband on Thursday and want to network my desktop and laptop - I "really" want to go wireless - but only ordered a "normal" ADSL modem - so unless I buy a wireless router - this is out .....
The cheapest solution appears to be a PCMCIA ethernet card + an internal network card (have both already) Do I need a hub ?

no, just a crossover cable (cat5) if you only intend to connect two computers.

If you might connect more than two in the future you will need a hub and straight cables (not the crossover).

So to connect it - I simply plug the cross over cable between the two ?
then keep my fingers crossed ?
thanks

If any of your machines are Windows XP, simply plug everything in and then run the network setup wizard. This will do everything for you.
