Hi All,

I have an XP2600+, Leadtek mobo with built in rj45.

I would like to network this with the PC next to me just to share files (well, back up files onto the other PC).

I have lying around a PC Line 4 port hub, could I use this?

I have 2 Questions.

1) How would I do this?
2) Would I need to install a 2nd NIC card on the main PC or could I plug the main lead into my hub, then run 2 more cables to the onboard lan of each pc?

if the two PCs both have on-board LAN you dont need the hub at all just a croosover cable to run between the two.

Hi Horiz,

My main PC uses the onboard LAN for inet connection, would be a hassle to have to remove inet to network them together.

Buy another network card and connect as horiz5 outlines. Oh I just noticed you say you have a 4 port hub well you can use that to connect the two together using cat5 cable.
