Hoax Virus

I have received a hoax virus email which tells me to delete jdbgmgr.exe from my C:\Windows\system to avoid infection by the Bugbear virus. The file is a MS Java debuger file but what would be the effect on the system if it is deleted?

Do NOT delete it it is Windows system file.

Do a search on this site for jdbgmgr and you will see it is probably the most common thread in existence.

This has been covered in detail before - I would suggest, for a quick update, you type jdbgmgr.exe or some such in search, also Links > antivirus from top of page and you'll find info on a site which checks hoaxes.

Hope you don't mind this suggestion , not intended to sound patronising or anything

Just delete the e-mail. It is surprising how many idiots have nothing better to do than to try and annoy people.
