Hoax email spam?

Has anyone else had anything like this?

I reckon its a spammer trying to get people to respond so they know its a working email address.

It was sent to caroline@[my domain name].com (as caroline is not a valid user on my domain it goes to me)

"Dear All,
As of, now my email address is: [address removed]
Please send a test email.

Yes, i know that, but thought it useful in case someone less au fait might receive something similar and respond to it.
