Hijacked domain name…

  Virtuosity 20:09 25 Jan 04

Hi all. I am after some advice.
I’ve been receiving “Undelivered email, return to sender” emails (about 50 in average) but the problem is I am NOT sending them. They look as if they’ve been sent by somebody from my website. Emails are in html format so I looked at them, they are pointing to different website addresses BUT the sites are identical (selling viagra and alikes), so whoever using my website’s name for this spasm are the same people.
What I would like to know is, what can I do to prevent this happening (if anything) or can I complain somewhere about it? The dodgy sites that I’ve mentioned above are based in America as usual.
Thank you in advance.

I think the ISP you are using for your emails would probably most interested in hearing about your problem, it would be in their best interests to sort the problem to avoid getting a bad reputation.

Hope you get it sorted, good luck.

Somebody in your address book has got a virus. Probably nothing more sinister than that.

Valvegrid, I will definitely mention the problem to them but I am not sure what they can do.
VoG, unfortunately I don’t think this is that simple. If you analysis the emails there is a set pattern, this is same in all emails; email sent from [email protected] to undisclosed recipients. Email itself prepared in html format which is THE SAME page in all emails. But where it says Contact us now section hyperlink to different web addresses BUT sites are all identical, selling all kinds of weird stuff.
I will contact to my ISP, I hope they can sort it out. Otherwise this is soooo annoying.
